Apprentice and Manufacturing Ready Free Construction Training at KOM
AMR 8-week Intro to Trades
Dates: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Roseville Adult Learning Center, 1910 County B Road W, Room A232
Training Includes:
- Weekly hands-on projects focusing on plumbing, PVC, PeX, carpentry, stud walls, common rafters, installing windows, roofing, and masonry
- Learn construction math and how to read a tape measure
- Overview of OSHA basics and workplace safety
- Career Counseling
- Computer skills- Participants may borrow a laptop for duration of training.
- Tour union training centers and explore careers in construction work like carpentry, roofing, drywall, and painting, glazing and glassworking, tile setting, and more.
Eligibility:
- Must be over 18.
- Resident of Minnesota.
- Have US work authorization.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Interest in a job in the trades and must have barriers to entering the industry, such as being an immigrant or refugee, learning English as a foreign language, or lack of a driver’s license.
- Our funding supports immigrants and refugees, those without US High School diplomas, those learning English, people of color, women, and people living in zip codes 55106, 55107, 55130, 55113, and 55119.
- Must be able to commit to showing up to class every day.
